Minister of Communication and Information: All Vaccines are Effective and Safe, People Don’t Need to Choose Brands

TRIBUN-BALI.COM, JAKARTA – The government ensures that all vaccine brand in Indonesia is safe and effective against Covid-19.

That’s why people are asked to join immediately Covid-19 vaccination without the need to choose vaccine brand.

The safety level of the vaccine was confirmed after an evaluation of the effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccine was carried out for health workers in DKI Jakarta.

“All vaccines are proven to be safe and efficacious, don’t be picky about vaccines, immediately vaccinate with the available vaccines,” said Minister of Communications and Information Johnny G Plate, Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

So far there are five vaccine brand available for vaccination programs in Indonesia, namely CoronaVac (Vaccine made from Sinovac), Covid-19 Vaccine (Vaccine processed by Bio Farma with raw materials from Sinovac), Astrazeneca, Modern, and Sinopharm.

Johnny said all of these vaccines are safe and able to protect the public from the risk of serious illness when exposed to the Covid-19 virus and are effective against various variants of the corona virus, and reduce the risk of death from Covid-19.

“All vaccines in Indonesia are effective against various variants of the corona virus, including the Delta variant,” he said.

The evaluation of the effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccine conducted by the Health Research and Development Agency of the Indonesian Ministry of Health showed that the vaccine was able to reduce the risk of being infected with Covid-19 and reduce care and death for health workers.

This study was conducted on 71,455 health workers in DKI Jakarta including nurses, midwives, doctors, technicians, and other general personnel during the period January-June 2021.

Johnny said the study observed positive confirmed cases of Covid-19, treatment, and death due to COVID-19 in three groups of health workers, namely recipients of the first dose of vaccination, complete vaccination (second dose), and those who have not been vaccinated.
