That is why Demir has decided to to increase renovation premiums:
- The middle class will be able to recover up to 35 percent of the renovation costs (instead of 25 percent now): capped to 17,500 euros.
- The low incomes will be able to recover up to 50 percent of the renovation costs: capped to 25,000 euros.
“It’s about insulating – roof insulation, attic floor insulation, new windows, double glazing, outer wall insulation – so that you have to use less energy,” clarifies Demir. Anyone who wants to get rid of the gas will higher premium for a heat pump can get:
- The premium for a hybrid heat pump will be increased from 1,500 to 2,000 euros.
- The premium for an ordinary heat pump increases from 2,250 to 3,000 euros.
Those who do not have sufficient financial resources can have their renovation done prefinance† Per housing unit, the Flemish government provides up to 50,000 euros that you can borrow.
In addition, Demir . wants additional investment in solar panels and wind energy:
- The target for solar energy will be increased from 300 to 450 megawatts per year. More concretely, 450 megawatts means providing 75,000 roofs of private homes with solar panels.
- For wind energy, the target will be increased from 100 to 150 megawatts per year (for wind turbines on land).
