The social side of the Social Dialogue Council has not managed to develop a common position on the minimum wage and the indexation of old age and disability pensions – it was announced in the press release. This means that these amounts will be established by the Council of Ministers by way of an ordinance.

The plenary session of the Social Dialogue Council was held on Thursday and was held in the form of a videoconference and stationary at the “Dialog” Social Partnership Center.

Minimum wage 2021

During the meeting, the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, recalled that the government presented the Social Dialogue Council with a proposal according to which the minimum wage in 2021 is to be PLN 2,800. This means an increase of PLN 200 compared to 2020.

The minimum hourly rate for specific civil law contracts is to be PLN 18.30. The government also proposed keeping the increase in the indexation of pensions in 2021 at the statutory minimum. It is predicted that this ratio will amount to 103.84 percent.

No agreement

However, the social side of the Council did not manage to work out a common position on the proposal to increase the minimum wage and increase the indexation of pensions. According to the regulations, if the RDS does not agree on the minimum wage and the hourly rate within the statutory period, then these amounts are determined by the Council of Ministers by way of a regulation by September 15 this year.

The amount of the minimum remuneration for work, as well as the amount of the minimum hourly rate determined by the Council of Ministers may not, however, be lower than those previously presented to the Social Dialogue Council for negotiations. This means that the minimum wage next year will not be less than PLN 2,800. To determine the amount of the minimum wage, the allowance for overtime work, the jubilee bonus and the retirement and disability benefits are not included. From 2017, the night work allowance is not included in the minimum wage.
