Mini-tornado in Zétrud-Lumay and flooded roads in Wavre (Wavre)

A mini-tornado occurred Thursday at the end of the day in Zétrud-Lumay, in the entity of Jodoigne, and many roads were flooded in the region of Wavre.

About a hundred calls were recorded at the central of the Walloon Brabant emergency zone due to the heavy rains which fell on the province.

The center of the Jodoignois village of Zétrud-Lumay was particularly affected by these bad weather. A woman had to be evacuated from her flooded home on rue Saint-Rémy. Several trees also cluttered the rue Grande Chavée.

We saw a mini-tornado, at this exact spot“, comments the commander of the Jodoigne station.

In the region of Wavre, Grez-Doiceau and Ottignies / Louvain-la-Neuve, the rescue services were also strongly mobilized.

Overflows of waterways, mudslides on the roads and flooded cellars constituted the bulk of their interventions, some of which will still occupy the morning of Friday.
