Mindfactory: CPU sales in the open market have gone down, still safely leading AMD

The market for PC components has definitely not been in normal condition this year, it still is not and will not be for some time to come. The lack of all kinds and also the activities of miners and scalpers were a sign of it

The first graph shows the development of the number of AMD and Intel processors sold, which has been steadily declining since the increase in the last months of last year, although companies such as IDC reported that interest in the PC was very strong. Here, of course, we compare DIY with sales of OEM kits, but in general, we would expect that in times of strong growth in the OEM market, DIY will not fade like this. –

At the same time, we see that the sales of AMD processors have already lost the once extremely strong column of “others”, which could be both the APU and then the weaker Ryzen CPU. Related to this could be an older report that AMD has begun produce your CPUs with very different priorities, or the fact that customers, except for enthusiasts, simply stopped building their PCs and looked elsewhere. After all, Mindfactory (MF) now makes up the vast majority of AMD processors sold, the new Ryzen 5000, which accounts for 78% of sales.-

As for the relationship between the number of units sold and sales, it is further shown that Intel processors are sold in their cheaper versions. Intel also managed to increase its share of pieces to 24%, but of the total package of CPU sales, it owns only 19% at MF. For many years before the advent of modern versions of the Riesen, it was quite the opposite.

This means that the average selling price of Intel processors remains low, peaking around May this year, when Rocket Lake entered the market. However, AMD has not improved much either, but it is still holding much higher.

However, interest in processors has dropped significantly this year, except in May, even below last year’s numbers, and we can see in this the impact of the graphics card market, after all, who would build a new and probably a gaming computer if they do not have the opportunity to do so? to buy graphics for a reasonable price? This is a fairly obvious indicator of how the lack of cards damaged the DIY PC market, from which some customers could run to the consoles, others could get a ready-made set, others are waiting and a few may have already resigned.
