Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Eyeing Move to Saudi Arabia as NBA Career Ends

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo welcomes a move to Saudi Arabia as his NBA days come to an end.

The “Greek Freak” may hail from the world of basketball, but he’s well aware of the lucrative deals footballers and golfers have signed to play in Saudi Arabia.

The basketball icon has a net worth of $77million (£55million) and is also a minority owner of MLS club Nashville, who lost to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami in Sunday’s League Cup final.

He also led his team to their first NBA Finals win in 2021 and is considered one of the best players in the league.

But despite being in the prime of his career at 28, Giannis has said he wants to follow other sports stars, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, and play in the Middle East.

“Of course,” he told TMZ with a smile on his face when asked if he would like to play in Saudi Arabia after his NBA career.

“If the NBA worked out, maybe like a swap between the NBA and the Saudi Arabia League, then I’m in!”

Giannis isn’t the only NBA legend to have claimed he would be moving to the Gulf state.

LA Lakers star LeBron James joked he was leaving after Paris Saint-Germain received a world-record £260m bid for Kylian Mbappe from Al Hilal.

The 38-year-old published a clip on social media in which he shows the sprinting film character Forrest Gump.

In the tweet’s caption, he said, “I was traveling to Saudi Arabia when they called Rich Paul and Mav(erick) Carter about the one year deal!”

Giannis himself also commented on the Mbappe story at the time, joking that the club should sign him as he looks like the PSG striker.

He simply said, “Al Hilal, you can take me. I look like Kylian Mbappe.”

Even the France international responded to the NBA player’s suggestion, posting 13 smiling face emojis.
