Munich – In the Champions League game against FC Villarreal, many millions of euros are at stake for FC Bayern in addition to sporting success.

These could make future planning a little easier for the Munich bosses. A place in the semi-finals would be rewarded with a further 12.5 million euros from the bonus pot of the European Football Union. Bayern have to catch up this Tuesday (9:00 p.m.) against the Europa League winners Spain, a 0-1 draw from the first leg in Villarreal.

In the event of success, the season revenue of the Bundesliga-Krösus in the premier class would increase to a total of 101.52 million euros in bonuses. In addition, there is an amount in the double-digit millions from the so-called market pool, the fixed amount of which is only determined at the end of the season.

The winner of the final on May 28th in the Stade de France in Paris collects another 20 million euros. The losing finalist receives 15.5 million. This income would make it easier for FC Bayern to add new players to the squad in the summer and to have more leeway for ongoing contract negotiations with top players Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Müller and Serge Gnabry.

After the Corona requirements have been lifted, higher viewer income is possible again in the home games. The second leg against Villarreal can be played in the Allianz Arena in front of 70,000 spectators. A possible semi-final against Liverpool would also sell out quickly.
