A fallen milk truck caused kilometers of traffic jam on the southern motorway (A2) in Lower Austria on Monday morning. The heavy vehicle had previously crashed into the concrete center baffle between Baden and Bad Vöslau (Baden district), according to the fire service. The handlebar of the semitrailer was slightly injured, according to Asfinag, the A2 was blocked towards Graz for more than five hours.
The motor vehicle loaded with 19 tons of milk overturned shortly after 5 a.m. Around 6.30 a.m., around ten kilometers of traffic jam had already formed, according to the ÖAMTC. As the Baden Fire Brigade Command reported, the 50-ton crane vehicle from FF Mödling was requested for the salvage. The milk truck had to be unloaded before it was set up again. For safety reasons, the directional lane in Vienna was temporarily blocked during the salvage. Around 10.45 a.m. three of the four lanes leading south were opened to traffic again. According to Asfinag, the fourth lane remained blocked for the time being due to repair work on the central baffle.
