Military aid from the USA – what Cameron and Trump talked about — TSN Exclusive

In the past, Cameron has not been very kind to Trump.

British Foreign Minister David Cameron arrived in the USA to discuss military aid to Ukraine.

This is stated in the story of TSN’s own correspondent in the United States, Olga Koshelenko.

The meeting between Cameron and Trump: what was discussed

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain David Cameron – one of the most ardent advocates of Ukraine in the whole world – met with the US presidential candidate Donald Trump, who not only blocks aid to Ukraine – in the event of his return to the White House, he harbors dubious plans to end the war in a day.

In the past, Cameron has not been very kind to Trump. However, he flew to Florida, Mara Lago, where politicians had a discussion and a private dinner. Cameron noted that it is normal practice for officials to meet with opposition politicians. And referring to the private nature of the conversation with Trump, he refused to reveal the details, except that the conversation revolved around international issues, including Ukraine.

The evening before, Cameron met with a number of congressmen and senators, where, according to him, he was again supposed to talk about the importance of continuing aid to Ukraine. But the meeting with Speaker Mike Johnson did not take place, although Cameron expressed a desire to meet.

“I came here with no intention of lecturing anybody or telling anybody what to do. Or obstructing the political process or anything else in the United States. I came here as a great friend of this country who believes that it is in your best interest, for your safety, for your future and the future of all your partners – to put that money aside and vote for it,” Cameron said.

What Cameron talked about with Blinken

The results of the upcoming NATO summit were discussed with his immediate American colleague, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. For current members, the question of raising their defense spending to 2% of GDP will be pressing – currently, about 20 of the 32 members reach this level.

A separate topic is what the results of the summit will be for Kyiv. Because it, like weapons, is important for supporting Ukraine – Cameron said. Another topic – the frozen Russian sovereign assets – this discussion will be continued at the meeting of the group of seven. While these are only plans, the partners are looking for ways to cover the shortage of ammunition, which is acutely felt at the front.

“We both heard last week from Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba in NATO about the urgent needs. Both of our countries are putting pressure on themselves and on others to do this,” said Anthony Blinken.

Will there be aid to Ukraine from the USA?

Will international pressure help push aid to Ukraine through the House of Representatives, which has already returned to work. However, the speaker is in no hurry to bring the Senate bill to a vote, nor to propose his own.
The US, meanwhile, is using the most unexpected reserves. It became known that last week an intercepted batch of small arms and ammunition destined for the Iranian-backed Yemeni Houthis was handed over to Kyiv.

In particular, AK-47 assault rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles, RPG-7 hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers and more than 500,000 7.62 mm cartridges.

It will be recalled that the White House stated that the inaction of Congress leads to Ukraine’s loss of positions on the battlefield.
