Miley Cyrus is no longer in a relationship with singer and model Cody Simpson. After various American media reported on the basis of sources that the two have broken their relationship, the singer confirms the news in a live session on Instagram on Friday.
“Right now, two halves cannot form a whole and we are working on ourselves to become the people we want to be. Just like everyone else at our age,” says Cyrus.
The singer says, just like Simpson, she still wants to discover who she wants to be and what she wants to achieve. “Don’t make it a drama if you see us eating a pizza together next week. We’ve been friends for over ten years and we will remain so, so don’t make it more than it is.”
Cyrus is not happy that the media has brought the news of the breakup from a “reliable source”. “Only those who have the relationship are reliable,” said the singer. “A year ago the media tried to tell my story for me and I do not accept that,” she refers to her then broken relationship with Liam Hemsworth.
The news of her breakup comes out the day she released her new single Midnight Sky has released. In the song, Cyrus sings that she doesn’t belong to anyone and doesn’t need anyone to love her.
