Milet’s “Hey Taipei, I’m Milet” Concert: A New Beginning and Cultural Exchange

Milet, a new generation Japanese singer, held her first overseas solo concert “Hey Taipei, I’m milet” at Zepp New Taipei for two consecutive days. Today (30th) milet accepted an interview with Taiwanese media such as 4Gamers and shared her thoughts on music. , Taiwanese culture and expectations for 2024.

As the title of this performance “Hey Taipei, I’m Milet”, this is Milet’s first overseas solo concert, and it is also her first meeting with Taiwanese fans. Milet handed over her business card, announcing that the overseas performance that had been postponed for two years due to the epidemic was official. Set off.

Milet officially debuted in 2019, and her debut song was selected as the theme song of the TV series. She successively sang the ending theme and interlude of the anime “FGO”, and later sang the opening and ending themes of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Bladesmith Village” , and recently composed the ending song “Anytime Anywhere” for the new series “The Burial of Florian”, which has been widely praised.

When it comes to “The Burial of Florian”, Milet said that he had read the comics before taking the job. The work had already won a comic award. After knowing that it was going to be animated, he was looking forward to this story touching more people;

The protagonist Fulian in “The Burial” is an elf who has lived for more than a thousand years. “Humans like us can only live for a hundred years. I believe that each other must see very different things.” Therefore, milet starts from Fulian. Starting from the perspective of “Delusion”, you can enter the character of Fulian and understand the point of view of the story.

Just like the title of the song “Anytime Anywhere”, although we have lost and met new partners many times as the years passed, no matter where we are at any time, there will always be new opportunities in the journey of life. Milet tells it through “Anytime Anywhere” Such a story.

On the music front, milet spoke more deeply about what music means to her. She has mentioned in the past that music is hope. She said that there are many moments of redemption by music, especially when she writes songs for herself.

“When listening to music, it’s like going back in time.” Milet likes classical music very much. She listened to a lot of it in the past. Now hearing these pieces of music again reminds her of herself when she listened to classical music, the free and fearless self in the past;

But now I stand in front of the stage and sing to everyone. Originally, I was the one who gave everyone courage through music. “But now I can also feel that everyone in the audience has given me a lot.”

Milet released a new album “5am” this year. Talking about her morning in Taiwan, she said that although she had no private time due to a full schedule of work, she wanted to taste the taste of Taiwan, so she went to eat salty soy milk in the morning even though she was very sleepy;

When she was in Japan, she didn’t eat much breakfast and would only drink latte. After learning how to grind coffee beans, she would prepare coffee for herself in the morning and enjoy the process of gradually waking up in the aroma of coffee.

When talking about Taiwanese food, milet mentioned that the food she wanted to eat when she came to Taiwan this time was “carrot cake”. It happened to be available in the hotel, so she finally tasted it. Although it is also available in Japan, the taste is completely different. She thinks the Taiwanese one is still better.

After the concert, she would also eat her favorite stinky tofu. Although she tried stinky tofu for the first time, she was surrounded by Taiwanese friends and forced her to take a bite. However, after trying it, she found that the taste was completely different and tasted like Japanese. I also like the sweet and salty taste, and the whole taste is delicious when paired with kimchi. Now she is grateful to her friend for forcing her to take her first bite of stinky tofu (laughs).

During the interview, the media also introduced to Milet that there are two types of stinky tofu: fried and steamed. Milet had always eaten fried stinky tofu (spicy) before. After learning that steamed stinky tofu is more smelly, Milet also shouted “Good” I want to eat it~~

Other foods she wants to eat include “fried rice”. Earlier this year, she also ate fried rice when she went to perform in Shanghai, Hong Kong and other places, but she felt that the taste of Taiwanese fried rice suited her best;

She also shared that she ordered braised pork rice for delivery yesterday and was surprised by the side dish “sword bamboo shoots” on the side. There are also dried bamboo shoots in Japanese ramen, but they are different from sword bamboo shoots. The sword bamboo shoots go well with rice, which impressed her deeply. impression.

Milet’s love for Taiwanese culture goes beyond food. She even performed a surprise cover of Jay Chou’s “Chrysanthemum Terrace” on the first day of the concert. She said that a friend who had lived in Taiwan recommended this song to her 10 years ago. Although she did not understand the content, she liked the melody of the song very much at the time. She also admired Jay Chou’s songs and dramas, and would cover it if she had the chance. Give it a try.

The most difficult thing when singing a cover is indeed the pronunciation. Fortunately, compared to speaking, singing does not have the problem of four tones. The retroflex sounds are like “ㄌ, ㄖ”. Japanese people cannot use katakana marks, so pinyin helps a lot. . When everyone sang “Chrysanthemum Terrace” at the end, it was a beautiful sight.

She also mentioned the interaction with Taiwanese fans at the concert. Although she had slightly imagined the reaction of Taiwanese fans, everyone was more enthusiastic than expected. Everyone was already screaming before the show started. As soon as the show started, she felt like there was “earth rumbling”. ” feeling (laughs).

When I sing songs like “Inside You” in Taiwan, everyone will sing along. This is a different reaction than in Japan. I’m very happy to feel the enthusiasm of the fans in this way.

milet will also be on the stage of the Red and White Song Competition again this year. Looking back on the first year of participation, it was still during the epidemic. There were only artists, hosts and staff present. The debut song “Inside You” happened to be a relatively heavy song. When he took the stage, It was not a mood where I could enjoy myself happily; as time went by, I gained experience and collaborated with other people on stage, and I became more and more able to enjoy the stage and perform happily.

The theme of this year’s Red and White is “ボーダレス” (no boundaries). Milet feels that music is like this theme and can eliminate boundaries so that everyone can enjoy it. In addition, Red and White is also broadcast in Taiwan. I am very happy to be able to accompany you through the stage like this. Overseas fans spend the end of the year.

As 2024 is approaching, milet said that she is first of all looking forward to the Arena tour in Japan starting in March next year, which will be her largest performance to date.

Since we entered the epidemic period not long after our debut, our first concert was also forced to be cancelled, which made me feel quite uneasy for a while. This year, I started holding physical concerts and meeting fans overseas, and I realized that there are still so many people in the epidemic. People got to know her and liked her, which gave her a whole new feeling.

Facing a new beginning, milet also looks forward to holding more concerts overseas and expanding his horizons in more different places. Let us look forward to Milet coming back to Taiwan for a concert in the future!
