The chairman of the Center Party, Mihhail Kõlvart, said that he is ready to offer Jüri Ratas the first place on the Center Party’s European Parliament election list.
“There are at least two strong candidates in our party. Both could claim the first place on the list – Jüri Ratas and Yana Toom. But considering that Yana is ready to offer this first place to Jüri, as far as I know, there is no special intrigue here. And I, in the same way, am ready to offer this first place to Jüri if he wants to run,” said Kõlvart.
According to Kõvart, he himself will not be number one on the list of the European Parliament elections of the Center Party, but he is ready to strengthen the list with his candidacy. “I have participated in campaigns twice in the last year. And actually I think right now I should be more involved with the party and not the campaign. It requires time resources and greater attention, so right now my priority is still the political party,” commented Kõlvart.
According to Kõvart, the goal of the Center Party could be to get two seats in the European Parliament. “Even in a situation where the ratings do not show it at the moment, the goal could be this,” he said.
When asked if Tanel Kiik, the head of the Riigikogu’s central faction, could also be on the list, Kõlvart replied that he certainly could, if he himself had such a desire.
“Actually, all our future politicians could participate, especially if there is a desire and readiness. Because the stronger our list is, the greater the chances are,” said Kõlvart.
The European Parliament elections will take place on June 9, 2024.
