In the Mediterranean, at least 45 people lost their lives on Monday in the deadliest shipwreck of 2020.
It is the largest shipwreck observed off the Libyan coast this year: at least 45 migrants, including five children, lost their lives on August 17 in the Mediterranean. A boat had however contacted Alarm Phone, as of August 15. “People alerted us, saying their engine had stopped working and they had no food or water left,” wrote the NGO on Twitter, which compiles phone calls from people in distress at sea.
