Midsummer LTV – Raimonds Pauls concert, favorite Latvian films and “Skroderdienas Silmači” / Article

Raimonds Pauls’ new program with the words of the poet Jānis Peters will premiere on Latvian Television in Midsummer – a concert “In the Mood of Summer”, viewers will have the opportunity to sing and dance all night long, as well as watch the favorite Latvian film and the legendary “Skroderdienas Silmači” performance in Druviena.

On the Day of Medicine, June 23, LTV1 will see the animated film “Ness and Nessia”, at 10.35 – the art film “Vella Servants”, at 12.00 – “Vella Servants in Vella Mill”. The daily program includes the legendary 1986 performance of the Latvian National Theater “Tailors’ Day in Silmači”. It was played outdoors in the Silmači stage of Druviena parish, the show experienced a huge response. Astrīda Kairiša, Ģirts Jakovļevs, Rolands Zagorskis, Velta Līne, Lidija Freimane, Elza Radziņa, Uldis Dumpis and others played in this performance of Alfreds Jaunušana. In the evening of Midsummer’s Day at 6.35 pm, the Midsummer classic – the art film “Limousine in the Color of Midsummer Night” will provide joy and sentiment.

The festival “Summer Moods” will sound from 8.35 pm – Raimonds Pauls’ new program with the words of the poet Jānis Peters will be performed from the Latvian Radio 1st studio. The songs will be sung and the poetry ensemble “Drama” – Dita Lūriņa, Karīna Tatarinova, Mārtiņš Egliens and Mārcis Manjakovs – will sing the poems.

Raimonds Pauls says: “The new program“ Summer Moods ”was created in the first months of this year. I invited my friend Jānis Peter to write a poem about the summer solstice, about celebrating our holiday. He made great poems, which, among other things, are full of humor and irony, all I had to do was create appropriate music.

These are songs to listen to on Midsummer’s Eve, but it’s hard to say how people will fall in love with them in time – listen to the concert! ”

The concert was created by Latvian Radio Radio Theater in cooperation with Latvian Television. Viktors Ritovs (synthesizer), Rihards Goba (guitar), Edvīns Ozols (bass), Māris Briežkalns (drums), Laura Rozenberga (trombone), Oskars Ozoliņš (trumpet), Kristaps Lubovs (saxophone) will spend “Summer Moods”. Producers Māra Eglīte (Radio Theater) and Māris Briežkalns.

At 22.05 we will listen to and dance to the loudest Latvian party songs together with the show “Latvian Heart Song Ligo”. At 11.35 pm, the heart songs will resonate loudly on the Night of Singing – everyone will have the opportunity to join the XXVI General Latvian Song and 16th Dance Festival choir until the morning light.

On Midsummer’s Day, June 24, favorite Latvian films for the whole family will be shown: at 9.00 – animated film “The sun drove into the sky”, at 12.00 – fairy tale film for the family “Sprīdītis”, at 13.25 – feature film “Džimlai rūdi rally”, at 18.40 – art film “Soloist Needed”.

At 20.40 the premiere of the archeology of director Aivars Freimanis’ film “Life” is expected, at 21.35 – the renewed parts 1 and 2 of the film. “Life”, combining elements of documentary cinema with feature film, is a biographical story about Daina’s father Krišjānis Barons.
