Microsoft wants to take over Japanese studios. The corporation will fight for new players

Xbox Game Studios may be expanded by several Japanese teams in the future. Microsoft is in talks with smaller and larger teams, the acquisition of which could improve the Xbox’s position in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Microsoft’s position in Japan is not the best, but Phil Spencer has been saying for months that he wants to fight for this market. Bloomberg editors confirm circulating rumors – the Redmond corporation plans to take over several teams.

“Several Japanese game developers, both small and large, said they had been contacted to buy the companies.”

The ongoing talks are secret, but Jeremy Hinton, the head of Xbox operations in Asia, admitted that Microsoft is always interested in contacting developers. In his opinion, acquisitions are possible, but currently the corporation has no new announcements to be made.

Xbox One won a staggering 0.1% of the market in Japan (10.1% for PlayStation and 89.8% for Nintendo), but the Americans are not giving up on the market. The corporate governors are convinced that the time ahead is promising: the Xbox Series S can attract players to the platform, and in addition, let’s not forget about Cloud Gaming, which allows you to play big titles with the help of the cloud on smartphones and tablets.

Games are necessary to increase interest in the Xbox offer, so Microsoft wants to take over studies, but also work closely with large teams – Koei Tecmo is willing to share more positions on the Xbox, but the American company is to show constant interest in Japan. This is probably why Microsoft is still striving to achieve its goals and buy several teams.

It is worth recalling that, according to the latest information, The Xbox Series X | S are doing very well in Japan. Microsoft made a decision reduce the price of XSSto effectively encourage new fans of console gameplay to a new generation.
