Microsoft suspends Forza players sticking Confederate flag on cars

Microsoft has announced this on Twitter.

“Our goal is to create a safe, inclusive and entertaining experience for all players,” said the tech giant. “From now on, the Confederate flag on all cars is seen as using” infamous iconography, “leading to a ban.”

Players can place their own designs on cars in Forza games. The Confederate flag was used during the American Civil War, among others, and is now associated with slavery and racism.

The same flag was also on top of the car in the television series The Dukes of Hazzard for years, so that players can no longer copy this design.

It is yet another example of tech and game companies that have been cracking down on racism since the Black Lives Matter protests. Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump was banned from game streaming site Twitch for “resentful behavior.”
