Microsoft releases fix for Snipping tool in beta of Windows 11 – Computer – News

Microsoft has given the Windows 11 releases in the Beta and Release Preview channels an update that should fix the problems with the Snipping Tool, among other things. These problems were caused by an expired certificate.

De update, KB5008295, includes a fix for not being able to start certain system components of Windows 11, because on October 31, Microsoft has expired a certificate. The operating system relies on valid digital code signing certificates of apps as a guarantee that the software has not been tampered with.

The problem affected the OS’s Snipping tool, the touch-sensitive keyboard, the ‘speech typing’ feature and the emoji panel, among other things. The update also ensures that users of Windows 11 in S mode can open the start and settings menu again.

Some of the issues were already fixed with the release of update KB5006746 which can be downloaded manually via Windows Update, but there was no fix for the Snipping Tool yet. It is not yet clear when Microsoft will bring the update to the release version of Windows 11.
