Microsoft is considering releasing Halo Infinite exclusively for Xbox Series S and X

Halo Infinite should have been released for Xbox One and Xbox Series X later this year, but shortly after the presentation and subsequent fan criticism of the graphics, Microsoft decided to delay the game for a year. A new rumor suggests this could have even bigger consequences, as the company would even consider scrapping the Xbox One version entirely.

Halo Infinite not coming to Xbox One?

According to the usually knowledgeable ResetEra user Sponger, which has previously published accurate details about exclusive Xbox games, developer 434 Industries is struggling to achieve performance above 900p on the Xbox One S. These issues have led to consideration of Halo Infinite only for Xbox Series X, Series S and the PC.

“The current version of Halo Infinite on Xbox One S is nowhere near 1080p (even lower than 900p) and has serious asset loading issues (much worse than you saw during the PC demo),” insider. “The idea is to change the way assets are loaded at the engine level, make RT the default (improve / unlock some assets), improve geometry, post-processing and add more CPU-bound interactivity. ”

That would be bad news for Microsoft’s strategy. Earlier this year, the company announced that games from their own studios for both the Xbox One series would appear as Xbox Series X.. In addition, it is alleged that Microsoft has not ruled out releasing Halo Infinite after 2021 if it thinks the game would benefit from it. “It’s pretty messy at the top with decisions, but they are convinced they should make the best Halo game ever,” the user wrote.

343 Industries had previously acknowledged criticism of the game’s graphics and told fans they took the feedback ‘very seriously’. After delaying Halo Infinite, Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, apologized for not living up to expectations, but said he believed delaying Infinite was the right decision for Xbox and Halo.
