Medical doctor-microbiologist Peter de Man was involved in the research into the corona outbreak in the nursing home in Maassluis. He is concerned that RIVM is not open enough to the conclusions about the virus-spreading capacity of certain ventilation systems.

‘As a department, we consider it very likely that there was a spread of the virus through the air under the influence of the ventilation system.’ This is what Peter de Man, as a medical microbiologist at Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland, is involved in the investigation into the corona outbreak in De Tweemaster nursing home in Maassluis.
The patient who took the virus in did not keep a good distance. But, says De Man: ‘Many people who had been in one place became infected in a very short time. A very sharp peak. In March we saw a different pattern in nursing homes: a series of infections over a longer period of time. ‘
