Meutya Hafid: Leaders’ statement at G20 summit proves Indonesia has world’s trust as global negotiator

NATIONAL INFORMATION — DPR RI Commission 1 Chairman Meutya Hafid said the leaders’ statement or communiqué agreed at the G20 Bali Summit or Summit is a form of worldwide confidence in Indonesia’s work as a global negotiator which can be seen from its long foreign policy experience, including Indonesian foreign policy government position taken in the Ukrainian-Russian war.

Meutya Hafid also assessed the Leader’s Statement as the Indonesian government’s success in overcoming the various polarizations between the G20 countries.

“The Indonesian government’s series of diplomacies has managed to convince other G20 countries that Indonesia is a reliable partner, who wants to bridge differences. And we both see that the 52 points of the Leader’s Statement have been achieved through consensus,” Hafid said in his statement to reporters in Jakarta on Thursday (11/17).

As is known, Indonesia successfully held the G20 summit in Bali. The G20 summit produced a leaders’ statement document which contained 52 main points of attitude of the G20 leaders.

One of the important points of the Leaders’ Declaration is that G20 leaders agree on the importance of upholding international law and the multilateral system that maintains peace and stability.

According to Hafid, the agreement to support multilateralism cannot be separated from the success of multilateralism for more than 7 decades which saved the world from the tragedy of a world war and allowed the world community to resurrect from the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic .

In the final part, the political expert of the Golkar Party of the North Sumatra constituency (dapil) believes that Indonesia’s success as the G20 Presidency means that Indonesia will be respected in the eyes of the international community. “G20 member countries and the world are considering Indonesia because it has the potential to act as a mediating power,” he said.
