Metallica cancels two festivals due to rehab treatment frontman | NOW

The American rock band Metallica has to cancel two festival performances this year, because frontman James Hetfield then has return sessions at the rehab where he was recently treated. These are the American festivals Sonic Temple in May and Louder Than Life in September.

In a statement on the band’s website, Hetfield says it hurts that the band, known from the hit, among others Nothing Else Matters, cannot occur.

“Those weekends are crucial to my ongoing efforts to become and stay healthy again. I have not made my health a priority while touring, but I now know that my mental health is the most important thing.”

“For most people, that probably makes a lot of sense,” he continues, “but I never wanted to disappoint my bandmates and the team around it. That’s why I got rid of myself.”

The singer has been struggling with addiction problems for some time, but he says that if he looks at it from the sunny side, his treatment is going well.

Through the message he wants to offer all fans his sincere apologies. He indicates that the band discusses with the festival organizers whether it is possible to give people their money back.

Last September the band announced that they had to postpone the tour through Australia and New Zealand due to the addiction of Hetfield.

Metallica will resume the tour in Chile on April 15.
