Meta buys Dutch eyewear technology company – IT Pro – News

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, among others, has acquired the Dutch company Luxexcel. Luxexcel specializes in 3D printing technology for complex eyeglass lenses. It’s unclear how much Meta paid for the acquisition.

Luxexcel is originally a Dutch company which also has a research and operations-has a branch in Turnhout, Belgium. With regard to sales and the service also has a branch in the United States. The company has the technology in-house for 3D printing immediately prescription eyeglass lenses. Luxexcel uses UV light for this. Luxexcel technology also allows for lossless production of material, and all kinds of new technologies, such as smart devices, can be integrated into the lenses.

Meta confirmed the news according to VRT and says the existing partnership between the two companies will continue through the acquisition. According to the Flemish newspaper De Tijd the American company allegedly paid a substantial amount for the acquisition. However, it’s not clear exactly how much was paid.
