The merger of WarnerMedia, a concern belonging to AT&T, and Discovery, owner of, among others, TVN. The deal would enable the creation of a new giant that would be better equipped to fight Netflix and Disney.
According to the Financial Times, Bloomberg and CNBC are well advanced in merger talks. The Wall Street Journal reported that the deal could be announced as early as Monday.
As a result of the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery would be a company listed on the stock exchange, and its owners would be the current shareholders of both concerns. The transaction would enable the creation of a new giant that would challenge companies such as Netflix and Disney.
AT&T is a telecommunications giant, which is the owner of, among others HBO, TNT, CNN, and Warner Bros. Discovery, on the other hand, is the owner of Eurosport.In 2018, the company bought Scripps Networks Interacitve, the then owner of the TVN Group.
Both companies declined to comment on the talks.
