The car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz wants to support the manufacture of medical devices in the corona virus crisis. With the help of 3D printers, individual components could be manufactured that are currently urgently needed in medical technology due to the pandemic, said the Daimler subsidiary.
“We are ready with our expertise and special knowledge for production, now it is up to medical technology to contact us. Our 3D printers are definitely available,” said board member of Mercedes-Benz AG, Jörg Burzer.
For cars, 3D printing is usually used in prototype construction and in small series production. Volkswagen is also currently testing whether it can manufacture medical technology parts with 3D printers. (dpa / apa / red)
