“Mercedes-AMG A35 Review: Affordable and Efficient Daily Car in Jakarta”

The Mercedes-AMG A35 is here to become the cheapest AMG ‘wild car’ in Indonesia. With an affordable price and compact dimensions, is this car worthy of being used as a daily car?

As a compact sedan, the AMG A35 comes with a ‘low profile’ stature. It can be seen from the design that is not flashy and far from intimidating like other AMG mid to top lines. For a daily car, of course a design like this is just right.

But behind its humble appearance, the AMG A35 is equipped with a ferocious runway. The AMG A35 is equipped with an AMG-enhanced 2.0L turbo engine with an inline 4-cylinder configuration. This engine is claimed to produce 306 HP at 5,800 RPM and 400 Nm of torque in the 3,000-4,000 RPM range.

Even though it’s not a one man one engine like the upper middle class AMG, the AMG A35 still comes with a powerful power distribution character.

Moreover, this machine is mated to the AMG Speedshift 7G smart DCT transmission which can transmit power to all four wheels and only to two wheels if you want to pursue efficiency.

Speaking of efficiency, detikOto has tested this car for several days to find out its average fuel consumption. The results are quite surprising for a high-performance car.

On daily routes, with an average speed of 25 km per hour, the Mercedes-AMG A35 is able to achieve an average gasoline consumption figure of 10.5 km per liter. Meanwhile, on highway routes with a constant speed of 90 km per hour, the A35 records an average gasoline consumption figure of 13.3 km per liter.

The presence of a transmission and sophisticated devices in this car makes efficient use of fuel. Several times when the car was driven linearly at high speed, it seemed that the engine speed remained low. This makes it fuel efficient.
