MEP Sergey Stanishev Criticizes Bulgarian Right and Warns of Consequences in Next Elections

The Bulgarian right has not forgotten anything old, it has not learned anything new, as in the 90s they dealt with destruction. The murky waters that created the ugly privatization were created – it worked as a great distraction, it divided the society. And now they are splitting it up. They are doing it terribly untalentedly and amateurishly, as they demolished the mausoleum of Georgi Dimitrov three times. This is what Sergey Stanishev, MEP and former Prime Minister of Bulgaria, said in “More of the Day”.
And he turned to the rulers with an ironic proposal: to place a pedestal for the leaders of the “Triple Assembly” in place of the Monument to the Soviet Army: To stand and watch Sofia.
“History is about learning lessons. Those who did it will be punished by the Bulgarians in the next elections,” predicted Stanishev, quoted by novini.bg.

With a slight remark, the MEP also addressed Kostadin Kostadinov’s party. “If Vazrazhdane, which now actively defends the Monument to the Soviet Army, had supported Vanya Grigorova, we would probably have another mayor,” commented Stanishev and added that he sees a political future in her.

He is convinced that the changes to the Constitution, which the deputies have already accepted almost completely, will be contested. “First – procedurally, whether it was necessary to vote with 160 or 180 votes and whether some of them did not require a Grand National Assembly. The changes related to the powers of the president are obviously opportunistic. Regarding the judicial reform, it is obvious that the changes will be addressed to the Constitutional Court”.
Stanishev is against the fact that ministers and MPs can have dual citizenship. “In my opinion, the people who run the country should have one loyalty – to Bulgaria”, argued the MEP and added that the idea of the president appointing an acting prime minister from a list of people is also not a good idea.

“The budget may fail the goal of Bulgaria’s membership in the Eurozone,” he expressed further concern.
