The General Secretariat for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment revealed the details of launching campaigns to detect narcotic substances among workers in the state’s administrative apparatus and school bus drivers in cooperation with the Addiction and Abuse Control Fund.

The secretariat stated, in a statement, today, that it is carrying out campaigns to inspect drivers in traffic ambushes in all governorates in cooperation with the Fund and the Ministry of Interior.

She pointed out that analyzes have been conducted to detect drug abuse for 75,000 people in 2020 (despite the suspension of campaigns for 5 months due to precautionary measures to prevent Corona virus).

And she continued: The number of people who were detected in 2019 before the pandemic reached 181 thousand, and in previous years the number of 129 thousand people since the start of the campaigns.

She added that since November 2020, the General Secretariat for Mental Health has intensified campaigns on roads and hubs in coordination with the Addiction and Abuse Control Fund, the General Traffic Department and the various security directorates, as part of the security campaigns and the efforts made by the Ministry of Interior’s agencies to detect drivers who use narcotic substances to take all necessary measures to reduce Of traffic accidents and their causes, chiefly the abuse of narcotic substances, in order to verify their safety and the safety of citizens.

The results of the detection of drug abuse among school bus drivers and traffic ambushes resulted in 15279 drivers taking narcotic substances to a number of them, some of them using marijuana, some of them taking tramadol and a smaller number using morphine. The expanded campaigns covered most governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
