Meiningen Music School: Participate in the musical film project – Meiningen

After almost a year of practicing digital lessons, the music school director draws a positive interim balance on the whole. “Our aim is to continue to maintain and achieve a high artistic level. Not at all, just looking after the students. ”Denner thanks the parents for their trust and patience. All pupils from kindergarten to retirement age would accept the online offer, as far as the technical possibilities allowed it, he explains. These have also improved a lot in the meantime, because many are learning more and more and thus the digital path is increasingly functioning smoothly. That’s why online lessons at the Meiningen Music School should remain a permanent alternative, even after pandemic times, assures the director Heiko Denner.

He himself currently uses the online platform “doozzoo” for his piano lessons and praises how this new didactic form has led the students to greater independence in learning and playing. As a teacher, he can no longer correct the movements or posture on the instrument through direct contact. But even with short explanations and a lot of personal effort by the students, despite the spatial distance, notes could be learned, fingerings found, dynamics and other musical subtleties worked out, according to Denner’s own experience.

Although none of this replaces the entire school and musical interaction, he adds, the connection between teacher and student remains online and can be continued seamlessly in face-to-face lessons. He doesn’t think this is realistic until after the summer vacation.

Nevertheless, there are still some concert dates in his annual program. The Liszt Biennale on May 19, the Meiningen Study Days at the end of May and the Thuringian Cello Academy at the beginning of August have been canceled. But the music school’s summer concert on July 11th is scheduled to take place, as are the Meiningen Study Days (November 11-14), the concert with Anna Maria Maak (November 15), the Gernsheim Duo (September 19), the Beethoven concert with Felix Kehr and Johannes-Daniel Schneider (November 28th) and finally the big traditional Christmas concert in the theater (December 13th).

And the music school director in Meiningen is already giving a lot of thought to the music of the future and events.

Because in the new domicile, the “Strupp’s Villa”, the concert hall will be equipped with appropriate devices from the outset, which should always ensure healthy air. So that musicians and the audience can (soon) trust live concerts again and enjoy them accordingly.
