Samantha Markle sued her half-sister for statements from an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. Prince Harry’s wife said, among other things, that she was “raised as an only child”. Her half-sister called that “malicious lies” and claimed that her reputation has been damaged as a result. She demanded compensation of $ 75,000 (more than 68,000 euros), but the judge ruled otherwise. According to her, Meghan only gave an opinion about her childhood and her relationship with her half-sister, and that is not a criminal offense because it does not fall under the category of slander.
A setback for Samantha, but she doesn’t give up. When the previous lawsuit was put together, Meghan had not yet released her Netflix documentary. “There is still a lot of evidence in there that we can use,” Samantha told the British newspaper ‘Mirror’.
The judge gave her the right to re-submit the complaint, but with solid evidence. And that is exactly what Samantha is planning now. “In addition to gathering new evidence, we have also strengthened certain complaints about the Oprah interview,” said Markle.
So it looks like there will be another hearing soon. However, according to experts, it is unlikely that Samantha will win her battle.
