Informed sources revealed to Al-Riyadiya that a meeting will be held today to discuss increasing the number of foreign players in Saudi Roshen League clubs to 10 instead of 8, which is the maximum limit currently in effect.
The same sources added that the meeting will consist of Yasser Al-Mashal, President of the Saudi Football Federation, Ibrahim Al-Qasim, Secretary-General, Saad Al-Ladhiz, CEO of the Saudi Professional League, Nasser Largeit, Technical Director, and a representative from the Competitions Committee.
The sources indicated that today’s discussions will serve as a first step towards the decision to approve the increase of foreign players, after going through several stages of study and obtaining the views of some parties related to the decision, which will then be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval for implementation next season.
Yasser Al-Mashal, head of the country’s game federation, said in media statements last month that they are studying increasing the number of foreign players to 9 or 10, and the concerned parties are being consulted in-depth.
