Meeting Rejects Miftachul Akhyar’s Resignation from MUI General Chair

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Secretary General (Secretary General) of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MULTI-FUNCTION), Amirsyah Tambunan stated that the MUI secretary general meeting forum had not yet accepted his resignation Miftachul Akhyar from the chair of the General Chair of the MUI. The MUI secretary general’s meeting was held today, Wednesday (9/3).

“The Secretary General’s meeting decided that it could not accept the resignation of the chairman because of the decision of the X (2020) National Conference of Kiyai Miftah as chairman of 2020-2025,” Amirsyah said in his official statement, Wednesday (8/3).

Amirsyah said the secretary general had received the resignation letter submitted by Miftachul from the chair of the MUI chairman.

However, Amirsyah stated that Miftachul’s resignation would be brought to the MUI Leadership Council for processing in accordance with organizational mechanisms. Either processed through leadership meetings, plenary and plenary meetings.

“The mechanism is in accordance with the Basic Guidelines and the MUI Household Guidelines according to the results of the X National Conference in Jakarta,” he said.

As is known, Miftachul announced his resignation from the chair of the General Chair of the MUI when giving directions at the PBNU Syuriyah-Tanfidziyah Joint Meeting at Unusia Parung Campus, Bogor, West Java, Wednesday (9/3).

He resigned because he was entrusted by the ahlul halli wal aqdi (Ahwa) forum at the 34th NU Congress in Lampung to not be allowed to hold office. At the NU 2021 Congress, Miftah was entrusted as the President of PBNU for the period 2022-2026.

This means that Miftachul’s position as Chairman of the MUI is not even two years old. He was elected as Ketum during the X MUI National Conference (Munas) in Jakarta on November 26, 2020.
