Meeting Recap: 250 Entrepreneurs Meet with CTM Elected Officials at Madiana Convention Center

250 entrepreneurs gathered at the Madiana Convention Center this Tuesday morning (November 14) to meet CTM elected officials. Objective: to take stock of the current economic situation, the implementation of major projects of the local authority and the challenges to come.

Unsurprisingly, the problem of payment deadlines after the cyberattack last May came back to the table. Another theme covered: food autonomy.

The room was very small to accommodate all those who had responded to this invitation from the community. It was also the president of the executive council who set the tone for this meeting.

Presentation of the projects

Serge Letchimy welcomed the business leaders by giving them an assessment of these two years in power. The elected official revealed the weaknesses and strengths of the Territorial Collectivity of Martinique but the emphasis was mainly placed on his major projects in front of an attentive assembly which brought together the major sectors of economic activity in Martinique.

Among them: stakeholders in tourism, agriculture, construction and public works, services, etc.

Alongside his advisors Alexandre Ventadour, Fernand Odonnat, Nicaise Monrose, Sandra Casanova, Nadia Accus Adaine, Serge Letchimy unveiled his roadmap for Martinique: the construction of a road axis to relieve congestion on the highway, the future of maritime transport with a cabotage port at Le Robert, the extension of Public Transport on its own site to Brasserie Lorraine and Sainte-Luce, the continuation of the Marshal plan and the reform of the payment process.

He also detailed the challenges facing the territory in order to develop and be competitive with our neighbors in the Caribbean.

Questions – Answers with elected officials

This meeting ended with questions and answers with socio-professionals and it was Catherine Rodap, the president of Medef (Movement of Entrepreneurs of France) who was the first to take part in the exercise. Some of the entrepreneurs welcomed this meeting approach, as Henri Salomon, president of the Chamber of Trades and Crafts.

This meeting was important, I believe that there were great expectations from economic players. There were many entrepreneurs, whether in crafts, commerce, industry or agriculture. They all needed visibility, to be reassured about our future, about future public orders and about how we were going to support our economic fabric in the face of structural, cyclical, financial difficulties… It was positive

Other business leaders, notably those in construction (Building and Public Works), did not obtain answers and were left wanting more.
