The silver medalist of the 2018 Olympics, Yevgenia Medvedeva, admitted that she performed in the short program at the Russian Championship in ice skating, which broke during the prelaunch training, reports TASS.
Today, Evgenia Medvedeva skated her short program at 71.08 points and thus took the final fifth place. On Saturday, December 28, the skater will present a free program in the same broken skates.
Medvedev told reporters that broke a boot after falling in training before playing in the short championship program in Krasnoyarsk. According to the skater, she tried to change skates, but she did not find the right model and size. Together with the coach, it was decided to ride in those that are. The trainer wrapped a broken boot with tape.
Medvedeva complained of leg pain and admitted that she did everything she could, rolling a short program. At the same time, the athlete apologized to the fans who gave her a warm welcome during her exit on the ice. According to Medvedeva, she coldly reacted to the support of the stands, but as a result she coped with nerves. The skater noted that the fans helped her a lot.
Recall that the Russian championship is being held in Krasnoyarsk in the Platinum Arena complex, which seats seven thousand people. Earlier it was reported that the authorities of the Krasnoyarsk Territory at the championship expect a full house.
