A second patient with the Ebola virus died on Tuesday April 26, 2022 in Mbandaka, capital of Equateur province, a few days after the third resurgence of this disease in this part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The World Health Organization (WHO), which announces this second case on its Twitter account, specifies that it is a 25-year-old woman, sister-in-law of the first case, the first symptoms appeared 12 days earlier. .
Note that the first case of death was recorded on Saturday, April 23, it was a 31-year-old man.
It should be recalled that the DRC is at the 14th reappearance of cases of Ebola virus on its territory. The latest was declared on October 8, 2021 in Beni in the province of North Kivu.
It was in 1974 that this virus was discovered for the first time in Congo-Kinshasa. The country has proven experience in the care of Ebola virus patients but also in the ability to contain it.
