As the new director of Public Assignment, Karin Donders has to watch over the management agreement.

The VRT executive board will be expanded. In addition to directors such as Liesbet Vrieleman (Information) and Stijn Lehaen (Technology and Innovation), media professor Karen Donders will also come on board. She will be the new director of the Public Mission.
Ceo Frederik Delaplace had proposed her appointment ‘to put more emphasis on the unique role of the VRT in society’.
In just a few words, this ‘public mission’ of the public broadcaster sounds like ‘inform, inspire and connect’. Somewhat more technical, it comes down to maintaining contacts with stakeholders such as the Flemish government, institutions and other media companies. Donders will also have to monitor the implementation of the management agreement. That is fortunate, because as an external advisor she was already part of the VRT negotiation team for the previous two management agreements.
Donders currently teaches courses on media policy, media economics and journalism at the VUB. That activity will stop. She will continue to supervise PhD students.
