Medellín received 10,000 vaccines for third doses for those over 70 years of age

The figure was confirmed today by the Ministry of Health of Medellín.

This weekend, the city received 10,000 vaccines from Pfizer for the third dose application. This was confirmed by Andree Uribe, Secretary of Health of Medellín, who clarified that these will be destined for people over 70 years of age and people with comorbidities.

The office explained that this process will involve scheduling by the Service Provider Institutions (IPS), which will be in charge of setting the application points and distributing the doses. These, according to projected calculations, could be applied in three days.

In addition to the points set by the IPS, vaccination in the city is advancing with different strategies, said Secretary Uribe. “We have 63 active points providing the vaccination service, but we also have strategies in the territory: we continue in neighborhoods and restaurants in the 70 corridor and Lleras Park.”

Regarding thea vaccination for people over 12 years old, The Health office confirmed that there are 60 points enabled to access the process, which can be consulted through social networks and the official communication channels of the Mayor’s Office.

The vaccines available for this population are Pfizer, Sinovac, Astrazeneca, and Janssen. Also that of Moderna, which has been prioritized for second doses in those over 50 years of age, people with comorbidities and travelers with special cases who have to leave the country with their full schedule in the coming days.

The Ministry of Health issued a special call for those over 70 years of age, inviting them to complete their vaccination schedules with the third dose. But the office is not unaware that there is a population of this age that has not yet received their first or second dose, which is why it also invited them to say yes to vaccination once and for all.
