BORCULO –
The meat products company Offerman in Borculo has nine employees on the street within two weeks. According to the FNV, this happened without any announcement and agreements. The union is now considering legal action against the company. “By closing a deal with the Works Council in Borculo, these nine employees will miss out on thousands of euros.”

The meat processor, a subsidiary of the Belgian company Ter Beke since 2017, has several branches in the Netherlands. The nine employees in Borculo were confronted with their dismissal last Monday during what they thought would be a performance appraisal.
“There they were confronted with a settlement agreement, which the management has agreed with the Works Council,” says FNV director Liza van Nuysenburg. “A thunderbolt in clear skies. They were summoned within a week and a day to sign the offer of dismissal. Offerman threatened them with a penalty if they did not sign. That would make the offer even worse. So with the knife on your throat draw at the cross. “
‘Put it in the trash’
According to the union, the employer does not want to cooperate in securing the conditional pension rights, so that these employees do not risk receiving money if they stop working before their retirement.
Van Nuysenburg: “I am very indignant about the way in which these employees are treated by Offerman and Terbeke. Is this the way to value your employees? After more than 25 years of working for Offerman, this is your reward? Sitting at home within two weeks with a worse agreement than your colleagues from another location? I have never seen an employer put employees with a long track record in the rubbish like that. “
The company has not yet answered questions from Omroep Gelderland responded.
Next steps
The FNV is considering various follow-up steps. Van Nuysenburg: ‘Offerman goes around the unions. No good agreements are made to limit the social consequences for these employees. ”
FNV is not only considering legal action, but also wants to see which collective options there are. Van Nuysenburg: “Where a good social plan has been concluded in Aalsmeer, the employees in Borculo have to make do with a much lower compensation.”
