Measles Outbreak in Neamț: Two New Cases Confirmed in Roman, Vaccination Rate Declining

The Directorate of Public Health (DSP) Neamţ announced, on Wednesday, that two more cases of measles were confirmed, being two minors aged 14 and 15, respectively, from the municipality of Roman.

‘Only one of the girls had the full measles vaccination schedule. The teenage girls were admitted to the Romanian Municipal Emergency Hospital, for symptoms of measles, and were discharged, with a favorable evolution, stated DSP Neamţ, in a press release sent to AGERPRES.

According to the procedures, an epidemiological investigation was carried out to detect direct contacts and notify the family doctor, in order to apply anti-epidemic measures.

DSP Neamţ announced, last week, that the first case of measles in the last three years was detected in a 3-year-old minor from Roman.

The MMR vaccination rate in Neamţ county has been constantly decreasing since 2020 and until now, from over 83% four years ago, to 49.31% last year.
