11 mayors who came together in the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities (KTTB) held a meeting regarding the Development Authority given to the Municipal Council under the 51/95 Municipalities (Amendment) Law passed by the Assembly of the Republic.
KT Municipalities Union Administrative Chief Muammer Güneş was also present at the meeting chaired by the Union of Municipalities and Güzelyurt Mayor Mahmut Özçınar.
According to the information provided by the Union of Municipalities, at the meeting that lasted approximately two hours, the mayors decided to act to implement the zoning authority given to the Municipal Council under the 51/95 Municipalities (Amendment) Law as soon as possible.
It was emphasized that in order to provide faster service to the citizens, municipalities that want to use their mandate should immediately give the authority to the mayors, in line with the decision of the committee established by the decision of the Council of Ministers, and within this period, they wish to transfer the zoning authority to the municipal councils in all municipalities by making a legal regulation in Chapter 96. .
It was announced that 11 municipalities that were aggrieved in this matter decided to act together and take action quickly, under the chairmanship of the Union of Turkish Cypriot Municipalities and Güzelyurt Mayor Mahmut Özçınar.
