(CNN Spanish) – The mayor of Cali, Jorge Iván Ospina, informed local media that the vehicle in which former Colombian soccer player Freddy Rincón was traveling as a passenger this Monday morning did not respect the red light of a traffic light and was hit with a feeder bus of the Western Integrated Mass Transportation System (MIO).

“From one of the security cameras of one of the neighboring buildings, the impact can be seen, the possible recklessness of the driver can be seen, the collision is very strong,” Ospina said. “The truck, all the evidence shows us that it ran a red light… they were also coming fast and that’s why this collision of this magnitude,” she added.

The mayor reported that all evidence related to the accident will be transferred to the Colombian Attorney General’s Office. “This is an event that has meant injuries, damage, material damage and the Attorney General’s Office must disclose the pertinent investigation in relation to such a painful matter,” said the official.

The bus driver and two companions of the former player underwent a breathalyzer test and showed no evidence of alcohol. Freddy Rincón, due to his state of health, has not undergone a test, according to the mayor. At the moment it is unknown if a fourth person was in the car where the former soccer player was traveling.

The bus driver and one of the companions are in a medical center. The other person left the scene without major injuries.

Freddy Rincón was operated on Monday and then transferred to the intensive care unit of the Imbanaco Clinic in Cali. “His condition, taking into account the very delicate findings in the surgery, is very critical,” the doctor in charge, Laureano Quintero, said earlier Monday. “Your prognosis for him is guarded,” he added.
