The Red Bull team had won 15 races in a row, but world champion Max Verstappen was unbeaten in the last ten races. He started Sunday’s race from the sixth row, not claiming victory.
Sainz, who won qualifying on Saturday, remained in first place during the race on Sunday. In the last laps, Lando Norris (McLaren) slightly threatened the Spaniard’s leading position, but he himself had to fend off Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. Russell crashed on the last lap, so Hamilton finished third.
The winner’s teammate Charles Leclair finished in fourth place, Verstappen was fifth, Pierre Gasly (Apline) was sixth, Oscar Piastri (McLaren) was seventh, Sergio Perez, the other Red Bull driver, was eighth, and Lyme Lawson was ninth. After 15 stages of the competition, Verstappen is the undisputed leader in the overall standings, having accumulated 374 points. Perez is second with 223 points, while Hamilton is now third with 180 points.
