Currently, Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing), who has a 116-point lead over Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), who is ranked 2nd in the championship, is likely to secure the title soon at the F1 Singapore GP.
Max Verstappen, who is almost certain to be the F1 world champion in 2022, is expected to update the F1 record for the most wins this season.
Max Verstappen’s eleventh win of the season at last weekend’s Italian Grand Prix is just two wins from matching the season record set by Michael Schumacher (2004) and Sebastian Vettel (2013).
Helmut Marko, Red Bull F1 motorsports consultant, believes Max Verstappen could be on the way to breaking records.
“Max currently has 11 wins and still has six races to go,” Helmut Marko told Sky Deutschland.
“13 is the record and if we could beat it at 14 it would be fantastic”.
A record seems likely, but Red Bull Racing F1 team principal Christian Horner doubts Red Bull is on the verge of a new era of total domination like Mercedes.
“I hope Toto (Wolf) suffers so much, but it’s very unlikely,” Horner said.
“The teams are currently performing at a very high level, but Ferrari is fast and Mercedes is recovering.”
