Buffalo turned around and won the away game against Toronto.
Afterwards, it was a lot about the crosschecking Rasmus Dahlin received from Toronto’s superstar Auston Matthews.
– Things happen out there and it’s intense. I’m fine, says Dahlin.
Buffalo had played two away games before, and lost both where they also did not have the lead at any time during any of the games.
Then it became the Sabers’ third time.
After a goalless first period, the match began to swing and just over halfway into the second, Toronto had managed to take the lead twice, only to see the Sabers equalize both times.
In the third period, the decision came in Sabers’ favor after three goals.
And it was a while after the second that Rasmus Dahlin and Auston Matthews crashed, something that ended with Matthews handing out a crosschecking over Dahlin’s neck.
– I have not seen the replay, but it was a fight in front of goal. I thought it rolled up through his shoulder and that his shoulder pads went up a bit. That kind of thing happens in hockey, it’s a fight out there and you play physically, says Matthews.
Dahlin did not want to say too much about the incident, while Matthews will have a hearing with the league’s disciplinary committee on Monday.
