Tom Stræte Lagergren (30) has taken Norway and the world by storm, both with the music and its jovial charisma. He is currently a judge in “The Voice”, where he will be a mentor for perhaps Norway’s next star.
Lagergren, who is best known under the artist name Matoma, has, among other things, made a name for himself among Norwegians through his emotional presence in the judge’s chair. The 30-year-old is not afraid to show tears on TV.
If one is to believe the artist himself, however, this has not always been the case.

Has met his soulmate
Lagergren is a guest during Friday’s episode of «Good evening Norway with Dorthe», where he talks about his career, among other things. During the interview, the artist also touches on his own emotional life.
– I have always been sensitive, but I have kept it inside me, he honestly tells the host Dorthe Skappel (59).
The artist says that he was previously afraid of appearing vulnerable. But that changed when he met his girlfriend Maren Sofie Gjertsen six years ago.
– I think you meet your soulmate once in a lifetime. That you have a contact with a person that makes you find yourself in that person, he tells Skappel.
At the same time as he himself is a mentor on “The Voice”, he mentions Gjertsen as a mentor at home. This despite the fact that she is both younger and that they are in a romantic relationship.
– Now, when I see myself in the mirror, I love who I am. That has not always been the case, the artist admits.

Met by chance
When Lagergren in 2020 visited the podcast «In quarantine with Ronny and Tuva» with the girlfriend, they revealed how the first meeting took place.
– Then I finally got there. You sat at a table further in, and you lit up like an angel. The moment I saw her, I knew that this girl I will share the rest of my life with, said the artist in the podcast.
Spontaneously purchased cottage
Since then, the couple has stayed together through thick and thin – especially through many days away from each other due to Lagergren’s many concerts abroad.
At home, they are cohabiting, but have also expanded their usable area. Last year, the couple was able to reveal that they had bought a cottage – spontaneous. The news was first shared Instagram.
– In short, we are very happy with the cabin and we look forward to many nice moments with family and friends there. It will be a gathering point where we look forward to enjoying our free time, but also finding inspiration in a hectic everyday life, the “The Voice” judge told Dagbladet about the purchase.
