Matchday: OWL-Derby in Lemgo, Foxes receive Hanover | News

Volpi Berlin against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf

Pure emotion is the order of the day on Thursday evening, because past duels between foxes and warriors have always been hard fought. The two teams last separated in April of this year with a score of 32:32. The Berlin leader unexpectedly conceded his first LIQUI MOLY HBL defeat of the season at GWD Minden on Sunday. Coach Jaron Siewert’s team faced another shock: Valter Chrintz injured his knee badly in Minden and will be out for the rest of the season. Maximum concentration is needed against Hannover.

The warriors have already shown strong performance in narrow defeats against Kiel and the lions and now they will try to annoy the foxes. Christian Prokop’s team has already celebrated seven victories after ten matchdays, placing themselves in sixth place behind the top teams.

HC Erlangen against HSV Hamburg

The two teams have met four times so far in the HBL. The statistics are balanced, both teams were able to celebrate two victories. Points have always gone to the home team. Raul Alonso’s side have won three of their four home games so far and only had to settle for a draw against MT Melsungen.

Handball Sport Verein Hamburg will try to inflict the first home defeat on the Erlangen team. The Hanseatic citizens arrive in southern Germany with a good tailwind. HSVH won three games in a row, the North Germans defeated Rhein-Neckar Löwen 40:37 on Sunday. So it remains exciting which series will continue Thursday night.

HSG Wetzlar vs SC DHfK Leipzig

Wetzlar and Leipzig had to accept narrow defeats last day. After three defeats in a row, Mittelhessen are currently in 15th place with 5:15 points. Thursday evening, the seventh place from the previous year wants to score again against neighbor Leipzig to get some air. HSG coach Benjamin Matschke has to go to the playmaker Magnus Frederiksen, who suffered a broken metatarsal in the match against Bergischer HC.

After a weak start to the season and the last five games without a win, Leipzig should also feel a sense of accomplishment again. Last season, the Saxons won both games against Wetzlar. Interim coach Milos Putera will remain on the sidelines.

TBV Lemgo Lippe vs. GWD Minden

Both Lemgo and Minden come into play with a sense of accomplishment. Both teams had a respectable victory last weekend. After two wins against the best teams from the north and two draws against Melsungen and Leipzig, the TBV, currently in 14th place, now wants to score points against local rivals GWD Minden.

But Frank Carstens’ team also wants to take the tailwind from the game in Berlin and immediately take their second victory of the season. The goal is to leave the relegation zone as fast as possible. In 35 games against TBV, however, the team from the Mühlenkreis region only managed to win seven times, Lemgo left the hall as winners 24 times and drew four times. So it remains to be seen whether Minden can improve the balance sheet in any way.

VfL Gummersbach against SG Flensburg-Handewitt

After the home game against Hamm, Flensburg now face the second promoted team. It will probably not be as one-sided as against ASV, as the Gummersbachers have already been good at a few surprises this season. Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson’s team is tenth in the table after ten games with 11:9 points.

In their recent games against the newly promoted side, visitors Flensburg didn’t miss a beat and won 32 out of 39 games. After dropping points against Lemgo, Maik Machulla’s side are back on track and within easy reach of the other top four sides.
