Travis Knight and Chris Butler Join the Project

Unveiling the Storyline of “Masters of the Universe”

The official synopsis for the movie reveals that the story begins with a 10-year-old Prince Adam, who crash-lands on Earth in a spaceship. Unfortunately, he is separated from his magical Power Sword, which is the only link to his home on the planet Eternia.

After almost two decades, Prince Adam locates the Power Sword and is transported back across space to defend Eternia from the evil forces of Skeletor. Upholding the Legacy of a Beloved Franchise

While the casting for “Masters of the Universe” is yet to be announced, the news of the project back on track is sure to bring joy to fans. The popular Mattel franchise, which originated in 1982 as a line of action figures and was followed by the animated series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” in 1983, has had its fair share of setbacks.

Overcoming the Netflix Implosion and a Long Journey

The previous live-action adaptation of “Masters of the Universe,” which was in progress at Netflix, had to be abandoned, bringing disappointment to fans. But now, backed by Amazon MGM and Mattel Films, the project is moving forward after Netflix already spent a considerable $30 million on its development.

The journey of bringing He-Man to the big screen has been a challenging one since 2007, involving Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures and various writers and directors, including Jon M. Chu and McG. However, a fresh start with Amazon MGM and Mattel Films now promises a unique adaptation of the beloved franchise.

Mattel Films’ Expanding Universe

Mattel Films, with its successful production of the recent hit film “Barbie” grossing $1.4 billion in worldwide box office receipts and generating significant Oscar buzz, continues to diversify its repertoire. The production company has an impressive pipeline of projects including “Barney” with Daniel Kaluuya at the helm, “Bob the Builder” starring and produced by Anthony Ramos alongside Jennifer Lopez, Lena Dunham’s “Polly Pocket” featuring Lily Collins, Vin Diesel’s “Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots,” an “American Girl” doll movie, a “Hot Wheels” movie produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, and a collaboration with Blumhouse for a Magic 8 Ball movie.
