Massive Construction Collapse Threatens Infrastructure and Communications in Sofia’s Manastirski Livadi-Iztok District

A huge construction collapse in the capital’s “Manastirski livadi-iztok” district threatens the infrastructure and communications in the surrounding blocks, citizens reported on Facebook.

The construction is located on Todor Jabarov Street and Bezimenna Street and has been stopped, reports the neighborhood group. According to them, communications were destroyed by the collapse, and part of the neighborhood was left without electricity. The plumbing infrastructure of several blocks that are located nearby is also at risk.

“In addition to the fact that in 4 years the “bridge” on the street was not even strengthened, now the little remaining “infrastructure” has literally collapsed”, the citizens comment and ask if any real measures will be taken.

Citizens claim that this is not the first time the construction fence has collapsed, and the reinforcement is not secure. They ask what sanctions were imposed after the first collapse of the same site and what control was exercised over the additional reinforcement that had to be built. “They definitely shouldn’t be strengthening trenches. Ever since the first road collapsed, I’ve been running past there and driving around,” commented a resident of the neighborhood.

The mayor of the “Triaditsa” region, Dimitar Bozhilov, who immediately went to the place, announced that the electricity and water supply have already been restored, and the National Civil Service Commission has been notified.
