  • Mayor LREM Christophe Béchu plans to reopen schools for students on May 14.
  • In addition to the distribution of masks in primary school, the “temperature measurement of each child by a municipal officer upon arrival in class” is planned.

While many questions arise as to the return to school of schoolchildren from May 11, the question has been decided
Angers. Monday evening, the mayor LREM
Christophe Béchu (re-elected in the first round) detailed the deconfinement measures for his city. And the resumption of school will take place on May 14, he said. After the teachers return to school on the 11th, the days of the 12th and 13th will be dedicated “to a thorough cleaning of the schools”, and to “setting up the traffic directions”.

While the government “does not recommend” wearing a mask for students before college, Christophe Béchu has however announced that cloth masks will be distributed to primary school students (30,000 have been orders). The “taking of the temperature of each child by a municipal officer on arrival at school” is also planned, the city said. Rules have been clarified for groups of 15
students: if there are fewer children in a class, they will have lessons all week. If it is more, it will be cut in half with two days at school each. For lunch, in elementary, meals will be cold and served in the classes. There will be no extracurricular reception.

Among other measures linked to deconfinement, in a department hitherto classified as “green”, Christophe Béchu announced the reopening of nurseries, most parks and gardens, and almost all food markets as of May 11. Some museums and libraries will be accessible again from June 2. Note that the distribution of washable masks ordered by the community for its inhabitants will start this Thursday. It should be said that the mayor indicated that its port will be compulsory in municipal public buildings. “We must not imagine that the morning of May 11 will totally differ from the days before,” said Christophe Béchu.
