Mask compulsory only from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

With the general decree of the district of Lippe, which came into force on December 23, the 24-hour mask requirement in the district of Lippe and thus of course also in Augustdorf has been lifted. In the circular it says: “The obligation to wear an everyday mask applies in the named areas, as well as on the public places and streets named there on weekdays between 6:00 am and 8:00 pm. “

For Augustdorf these are the following streets and squares:

Area Pivitsheider Strasse from the confluence with Stukenbrocker Strasse to the roundabout with adjacent parking areas, Rosenstrasse with adjacent parking areas, the car park of the Baptist Brethren Congregation on Haustenbecker Strasse, the car park of the Evangelical Christian Congregation on Imkerweg, the car park of the Evangelical Free Church on Pivitsheider Strasse, the car park Schlingsbruch leisure area, the parking spaces on Schlingweg, the parking lot below the secondary school on Rodelberg and the WINEO-Arena parking lot on Inselweg.

The change is probably due to a ruling by the Minden Administrative Court. That had granted an urgent application from an Oerlinghauser lawyer. This had sued against the unrestricted mask requirement in Oerlinghausen.

The court stated that an obligation to wear a mask at all times was basically possible without a time limit. However, it cannot be established that this would be necessary in Oerlinghausen. The blanket reference to the rapidly increasing number of people, especially in Oerlinghausen, who fell ill with Covid-19 is not sufficient. Incidence figures in neighboring cities, where there are daytime restrictions, are significantly higher.

Mayor Thomas Katzer welcomes the general decree, but also explains that he sees changes after a few days as more of a hindrance. Thomas Katezr also stated that the signs indicating the mask requirement would be replaced with larger and more legible signs over the next few days. “Older people in particular find it difficult to read the script and understand where and when the mask requirement applies,” Thomas Katzer told the editorial team.

According to the mayor, the fact that the signs with the new times have not already been replaced has to do with the fact that the order was only published on the afternoon of December 22nd and came into force on December 23rd. “Now in the new year we will adjust these things as soon as possible,” said Thomas Katzer.
