There have been over 2,400 feet of boom deployed to contain any leaks of pollution in the aftermath of the collapse of the Key Bridge, Maryland Governor Wes Moore said on Thursday.

Governor Moore, who personally assessed the situation on site, did not witness any sheen on the water.

56 containers with hazardous materials discovered on vessel

It was reported that the cargo vessel carried 56 containers with hazardous materials, according to the latest information. The containers’ content remains a significant concern in the environmental disaster.

Affected containers contained soap and perfume

Coast Guard Rear Admiral Shannon Gilreath shared during a briefing that 14 containers on the ship were impacted. These containers were found to contain everyday items such as soap and perfume. At this time, information regarding the potential spillage of these materials is still unavailable.

Authorities have installed air monitors in the area to track any potential threats. Fortunately, the monitors have not detected any hazards thus far, added Rear Admiral Gilreath.
